Flambards is the West Country’s leading family attraction with rides for everyone, family fun and entertainment. Don’t forget to visit the award-winning and unique exhibitions including the The Victorian Village and the Britain in the Blitz.
There is so much to do at Flambards. Whatever your age, whatever your interest, there is something for everyone!
Flambards is a fun-filled family theme park just outside of Helston, Cornwall. The park has many rides for the thrills and chills of young, old, and everyone in between!
Enjoy the beautiful view of Helston, Culdrose Airfield and the surrounding countryside as you spin around on the Skyraker drop tower, and join.
Take another deep plunge on the Canyon River Log Flume, albeit a much wetter one! Get on the Extreme Force, and spin 360 degrees as you make loops on the enormous spinning arm at breakneck speeds.
Or take on the steep banks and sudden drops of the Hornet roller coaster, which is suitable to younger riders, but goes at quite a fast pace as well. Blow off some steam on the Cornish Mine Train, a locomotive that takes you underground.
Kids will definitely enjoy exciting rides like the Shuttle, a mini drop tower, and the Assault course, a play area filled to the brim with slides, tunnels, zip wires and balancing beams.
Of course there’s a classic cup & saucers ride, and there’s a huge ball pool where kids can burn off that extra energy while you watch them and have a cup of coffee. For more information, visit the website of Flambards.
The Flambards Experience is a family-owned amusement park on the southern outskirts of the town of Helston in Cornwall, United Kingdom. It was founded in 1976 as the ‘Cornwall Aircraft Park’ by Douglas Kingsford Hale MBE and his wife Audrey and is now run by their son James Kingsford Hale.
Now named Flambards, the theme park has become one of the leading attractions in the south west for rides, exhibitions and family entertainment. Flambards also features a combination of live entertainment from children’s celebrities such as The Simpsons, Peter Pan and Snoopy as well as its own park mascot – a fox named “Ferdi Flambard”.
While the park does not boast a significant lineup, the park is currently trying to add at least one new ride or feature to the park every year.
Flambards first opened in 1976 under the name of ‘Cornwall Aircraft Park’. Owned by Douglas Kingsford Hale MBE, the park slowly built up an array of aircraft models and exhibitions.
Over time, the park grew and soon had its fair share of rides along with the new name of ‘The Flambards Experience’. Past ride included the Dragon Coaster, the Canyon River Log Flume, Paddle Boats and the hyperglide, all of which only one is still operating.
For the 2007 season, three rides were added:
The Rocking Tug
The Space Shuttle
For the 2008 season the Cornish Mine Train ride was added in addition to the introduction of the War of the Worlds paintball game.
2009 saw no major additions to the park, however the field housing the helipad was sold late in the season. The museum exhibitions are open year-round, but the rides and play areas are open seasonally.
In 2010, the Skyraker 001 opened and claimed the title of the UK’s first twisting drop tower. The ride gained much popularity and is a staple attraction in the park, being seen from all around.
2011 – One2eleven indoor play – Opens June 2011.
The park has slowly moved out of its early stages as more rides come in and remaining models around the park are taken out. Nothing is yet announced for the 2013 season.
