Hanover is a major center of northern Germany, known for hosting annual commercial expositions such as the Hanover Fair and the CeBIT. Every year Hanover hosts the Schützenfest Hannover, the world’s largest Marksmen’s Fun Fair, and the Oktoberfest Hanover, which is the second largest Oktoberfest in the world.

The famous cabaret festival named MIMUSE is held in Langenhagen twice in a year; one of which is in spring, and the other one is in autumn. The music fest Muse held in Seelze offers a chance for the talented teenagers.

Baroque structures are other places, which are worth of visiting. The famous Baroque garden in Herrenhausen was designed by Duchess Sophie von der Pfalz, the mother of the king of England. It took them around 30 years to complete its structure. The guests are fascinated with the excellence of the Baroque garden. Apart from the Baroque garden, there is botanical garden known as Berggarten. If you are fond of shopping, the area named Niki de Saint Phalle with its stores is an appropriate destination for you.

The Hinterlands consist of a beautiful array of forests, beaches, and lakes. Here you will be able to lay out on the beach all day without ever seeing another person. Because of the privacy provided by these isolated lakes and beaches, nude tanning and swimming are not uncommon, so be forewarned.

Finally, if you are a history buff, you will probably want to visit Checkpoint Charlie. During the Cold War, this was the only place you could go to West Berlin form East Berlin. At the time, the point was surrounded by soldiers patrolling the wall, topped by razor wire. Now people are free to pass at anytime.
