Over 1000 mammals, birds, reptiles, fish and invertebrates call Blackpool Zoo their home. Blackpool has themed enclosures which simulate animals’ natural surroundings.

Asian elephants are met with visitors’ enthusiasm at The Elephant & Reptile House, which the pachyderms share with various reptile species, including snakes, lizards and caimans, and with amphibians, cockroaches.

Great apes are featured too: gorillas and orang-utans live in realistic enclosures. Other mammals include majestic African lions, energetic Californian sea lions, formidable giraffes, cheeky squirrel monkeys and several lemur species.

You can stroll through Amazonia, a South American jungle inside a steel mesh dome, or take the gravel path that winds through the kangaroo and wallaby enclosure.

A special children’s farm was opened in recent years, allowing kids to pet their some of their favourite and familiar animals. Also recently, the Zoo has made special Animal Experiences part of their programme.

For an extra fee, you can be a zookeeper for a day; you can feed a tiger, help train sea lions, or interact with lemurs. An additional fee is charged for these unique experiences.
To unwind after all the excitement you can go to the coffee shop, the large Lake View Cafe or one of the many ice cream kiosks. For more information, visit the website of Blackpool Zoo Park.
