A visit to the Camperdown Wildlife centre, situated in 18 acres of the Camperdown Country Park on the green outskirts of Dundee, makes for a fun learning experience.
Researchers are constantly learning more about the animals and can even draw conclusions from your visit: by examining how animals respond to your presence.
They learn things about social interaction in the wild, which they can implement in their conservation efforts.
You’ll come face to face with many rare and endangered animals, including the European brown bear, three species of lemur, the Patagonian mara and the red-necked wallaby. You’ll also meet some local heroes, including the highland cow and Scotland’s prized horse breed; the Clydesdale.
Additionally, the centre has a varied collection of threatened birds, ranging from the Northern bald ibis and the familiar white stork to the majestic snowy owl and the flightless greater rhea.
At any given moment during your visit, you can take a break and eat something in the open air picnic area, or choose one of the homemade snacks and drinks at the recently opened café!
