The 60-acre park, filled with lush gardens and lakes, makes a memorable day for visitors of all ages. Whether it’s the walkthrough lemur enclosure, the display of adorable penguins, the pair of Amur leopards (which are critically endangered.
The orang-utan forest, or the African elephants in the Elephant Kingdom exhibit, in Colchester you will find something that floats your boat!
The Edge of Africa: Kingdom of the Wild exhibit is one of the park’s most impressive exhibits:
giraffes, zebra, pygmy hippos, leopard tortoises and white rhinos all share this realistically recreated savannah environment. Of course there are lions, too! Furthermore, the zoo is one of the few zoos in the UK approved to keep Komodo dragons. There are various other reptiles, as well as amphibians and fish.
Finally, the zoo offers some unique arrangements:
for an additional fee, and when booked in advance, you can be a zookeeper for a day and choose from several programmes.
Activities include going inside the lion’s den, feeding giraffes and elephants, and doing a medical checkup on a tortoise! For more information, visit the website of Colchester Zoo.
