Curraghs Wildlife Park is a definite must-see, must-hear, must-smell experience if you visit the Isle of Man.
Located on an Island, the park logically features a Life on Islands exhibit, which is home to, among others, the critically endangered Bali starling and several species of lemur. Seven themed areas feature animals grouped.
Natural habitat in geographical enclosures, allowing you to practically explore the world! If you have children, they will love the Close Beg, a special children’s section of the zoo which houses meerkats and prairie dogs in exhibits which allow for easy viewing by children.
It also has an indoor Play Barn for toddlers, and older children will enjoy the adventurous outdoor play area. Make sure you drop by the Lakeside Cafe for an ice cold soda or a hot meal.
Acquire a deeper understanding of life in the curraghs (Manx for wet, boggy woodland) in 5 hectares of authentic environment managed by the Wildlife Park. Winding nature trails were designed here so you can really get close to nature.
Of particular interest is the Butterfly Trail, a nicely crafted path through the woodland where nectar plants for the adults and food plants for caterpillars have been planted to maximize the amount of native butterflies. For more information, visit the website of Curraghs Wildlife Park.
